I’m so very very disappointed.
I came to Imagine That with high hopes. The rules said that the site had standards, that only the best got in. So when I applied, I expected a professional site. One that knew what they were doing.
And then I started to actually spend time on here. I got to see that the admins were never on. Because they had a “life.” But when a personalizer has a life, and spends a little extra time to make an image, or has to leave for more than a week, it’s considered taboo and that person is in trouble.
And yet, the moderators are able to go with no images completed for months, even though they are here everyday.
As for the site having standards, I was, again, wrong in that respect. Because it’s not your image quality that gets you into the “elite club” of an Imagine That personalizer, it’s how popular you are, and how you get along with the admin/moderator.
Because Twill can put a flat day-light horse on a night background, with no smudging or recoloring, make it three times the size the horse should be, and get applauded for it. There are no shadows, no depth, the images are flat flat flat with the subjects badly cut out and far too big. But she’s accepted, and applauded, and asked for.
So when someone that actually spends time on their images is told by a moderator that can’t make images to save her life that they need work?!
I thought, that since the rules were professional sounding, and the numbering system well thought out, and the “no copyright” rule easily accessible, that this site would be a great place to learn and grow and teach. But then I’m told, flat out, that the site is not professional, from a MODERATOR! The request forms are only half filled out, the moderators drag an issue until it’s eating the dead horse it had kicked, and the people even trying to get something worthwhile done are harped at because they take too long.
And yet, some mods haven’t filled a request in two months. I managed to make three in one month, and the boards are still overflowing with requests.
It’s funny, how that happens. The mods get away with pretty much anything. Like in a request thread, they can put up a spam post. I thought it was a mod’s job to cut back on the spam. Guess I was wrong.
The site’s number one rule is respect. But so far, the only respect that I’ve seen is the sucking up to the never-present admins and their pet moderator.
Anna, this in no way is pointing at you. In my short time here, you’ve been the only one with an ounce of professionalism and a kind word to protecting the personalizers. And I thank you so much for that.
Well kids! I’ll leave this sinking ship to its watery grave. Ado, ado, parting is such sweet bliss.
