ASTARIA---NIGHTFALLS bringing new meaning to civilian by day, superhero by night
Astaria is a brand new, unique, mythical equine RPG. You’ve all heard that before. So, what makes Astaria stand out from the rest? Well, it’s simple really.
The horses in Astaria are actually quite normal. That is, if you visit them during the day. There is nothing strange about them, no wings jutting out of abnormal places; no horns. There is nothing. Though, when the sun sets below the horizon and the moon, Illyiah appears they change. The horses of Astaria become the supernatural, capable of flying, transforming, manipulating the elements; the list is endless.
That sounds pretty nice, right? Well, you haven’t heard the catch yet. Some horses of Astaria are not blessed with a power, they have something else entirely. It is called a curse. These curses are only active when the moon Vardre rises. These horses transform into other things, sometimes what they fear and sometimes what others fear. A select few even prey on their own kind. Huh. That’s different, right?
Now that you have the basic idea, let me tell you a little bit about the history of Astaria.
Astaria was beautiful. There were no curses; there was no fear of the Vardre moon. In fact, there wasn’t a Vardre moon. The Illyiah would rise every night, bringing peace and magic to the land. The beautiful land of Astaria soon became ruled by horse known as Narrow. He was powerful; everyone obeyed him and respected him. He bore a son during his rule, named Carter. After the birth of his son, he became greedy. He wanted more power.
Something peculiar happened, during his quest for power. There was a kind of perma-night. The night cursed the land for ten long days. Also, there was another strange object in the sky… the Vardre moon. During this, the great ruler, Narrow, transformed into a creature who fed off the souls of the living. It took him nine days to kill, almost everyone. Only a few horses, remained, most of who had fled the land of magic, in search of peace. The only few left in the land were Narrow’s son, Carter, and a mare named Luna.
Now you see, Narrow wasn’t the only one left with a ‘power.’ The mare, Luna, had been granted the power of a never-ending life, some might say. She wasn’t afraid of Narrow; in fact, during his rule she had led a small rebellion, which of course was unsuccessful. On the ninth night, Luna fought Narrow. It was a long battle, but she won out, leaving the great ruler dead for all to see. Luna then went in search for the son, Carter, with all intentions of killing him too. She searched until the sun rose, but could not find it. The colt had left, and hasn’t been seen, until just recently.
Luna rules her own herd now. She is a legend, even to those who do not know of her feats. Rumors have been going around that Carter has returned to Astaria. It has been six years since he was born here. Luna is nothing more than an old leader, but her daughter Alumina, that is his interest. Will he get his revenge? Or will his intentions be more pure than expected?
