"welcome to the boston humane society." "as you can see, we are a highly suggested pound in the area and we provide the best care for the animals here." i listened to the too-bright lady quietly, still sniffling and wiping at my blood-shot eyes. there was a cage in my hand, another in my mother's beside me. both of our pets, our calm dog named ginger, and our crazy cat, rebadoe. i couldn't stand the thought that we had to leave our pets here - but it was that or go hungry. things were bad back at home, even though there are only three of us since dad died. but something just doesn't feel good about this place, and everyone just seems too nice...

humans at this humane society couldn't be better liars. beyond the clean, polished lobby and the over-friendly staff, cruelty touches every corner of this so-called "amazing" facility. nearly 500 feet beneath the surface of the pound, you'd find cages upon cages of dead or dying cats and dogs, all suffering from the chemicals and such that were tested on these animals. very few make it out of those dark tunnels after being experimented on, and the scientists won't stop at anything to do the experiments that weren't quite proved as legal throughout much of the world. each and every one of them are sworn to secrecy, and until treason is committed, animals will continue getting lost down the blackened tunnels, begging the humans to let them go with wails of anger and sorrow...
